Bevel's Artist Series #03

Meet artist Rita Labib who shoots for Bevel.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Perfect happiness is a healthy family with no worries.

What is your greatest fear?
Not being able to provide for my family. That, and the ocean.

Which living person do you most admire?
My grandmother; she always sees the good in everyone.

What is your greatest extravagance?
Dining. I've traveled so much; my tastebuds are rich in culture and it shows on the bill.

What is your current state of mind?
To live the life that makes me happy

Which talent would you most like to have?
I would love to be proficient at drawing. I find myself with many amazing ideas and wish I knew how to put them down on paper.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wish I wasn't hungry all the time.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Traveling to over 18 countries before the age of 25. Diving into new cultures alone is one of the greatest things I've ever done.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?
I don't know if I'd want to come back, that is if I died of age. If I didn't die of age, it would probably be doing something crazy while traveling and again, not sure I'd want to come back after that either because my mother would kill me.

Where would you most like to live?
I'd stay in California. I love Mar Vista because it's close to the beach, close to downtown, and close to the mountains, but you can still have a front yard and a backyard.

What is your most treasured possession?
I've learned to treasure people over things so I don't care much about my belongings.

What is your most marked characteristic?
I've always been told I was motherly, even though I don't have kids yet. I'm always trying to take care of everyone.

What do you most value in your friends?
Honesty. They're brutally honest and that's how you know they love you.

Who are your favorite writers?
James Frey. I love his style, his personality, everything really.

Who are your heroes in real life?
Grandmother and Mother

What is it that you most dislike?
Stairs

What is your motto?
If there's a will, there's a way.
